Aldershot v Tranmere Rovers in the National League Play-off Semi Final 1st Leg

The Shots host the Rovers on a rainy night at the EBB Stadium.  The prize for the winner over 2 legs is a trip to Wembley and a chance to join the Football League.

It starts well for Rovers with Cole Stockton scoring in the 3rd minute.  There are chances at both end in a rain soaked first half but it remains 0-1 at the break.

Nice and dry here

There minutes in the 2nd half, Shots keeper Jake Cole dropped Rides cross at the feet of Norward who didn't need to be asked twice.   0-2.

Rovers hit the Shots on the break in the 75th minute and Stockton fired home after Norwoods run.  0-3.  Now back to Prenton Park.

MOTM Adam Buxton, never stopped up and down the wing running at their defence as well as being solid in ours.

Lockdown hair award goes to Gary Waddock, Shots manger.  Hasn't Beaker got a copyright on that?

Proud of the SWA who never stopped singing despite the rain.  I'm Tranmere til I''m dry.

See you soon.

Tranmere Rovers vs Bolton Wanderers in the 3rd division play-off final 90-91

Johnny King's Rovers back Wembley for the fourth time in 2 years and the second time in week to try to win promotion to division 2 for the first time in 60 years.  The original trip to the moon.  Tranmere dominant at times in a long game of few chances at a sun drenched Wembley,  It went to extra time and Chris Malkin scored in the first extra 15 when the keeper saved Ged Brannan's shot.  Onwards and upwards for the Deadly Sub.

Wembley has since been rebuilt by Tranmere chair Mark Palios and renamed Prenton Park South in his honour.

We are going up.  Back in League 2. That's the Championship in new money.

MOTM  Higgsy. Love him.

The lockdown hair award goes to Bolton keeper David Felgate for an awesome hair and mustache combo.

Do you think Bolton sacked their kit man for shrinking their shorts in a boil wash.

See you at a soggy Aldershot in  few days.
